Some Wedding Flower Tips

No wedding is complete without flowers. Ordering the flowers is one of the most pleasant aspects of organizing a wedding. There is a heady scent of the Florist’s shop and the colour of the blooms seems to conjure up the essential sprit of the event. Choosing the flowers usually requires some help from the professional florist because of the specialist knowledge required.

At Jackie Phillips Flowers, we have that specialist knowledge and can advise you on the availability of the range of flowers that will be available at the time of your wedding. We also limit the number of weddings we do on any one day so we would recommend that you book your Wedding Flowers at least three months ahead.

Brides Bouquet. The first thing to think about is the bouquet shape you would like to carry as this will affect your overall look. Huge armfuls of flowers with a romantic full skirt can be overbearing whereas a few long stemmed flowers trailing towards your feet will draw the eye in a slender line from waist to floor. Delicate flowers in a modern shower bouquet are very pretty with slim line or bias-cut dresses and Hand-tied posies are always a success whatever the style of your dress.

Wedding Gown. The shape of your Wedding Dress is also important to us. If possible bring us pictures and fabric swatches for both yours and your bridesmaids dresses. Traditionally, the Brides flowers are different to the Bridesmaids but they should complement each other as well as the dresses.

Headdresses. There are many other ideas you could consider. Do you wish to wear a floral headdress to match your bouquet. For any younger girls you may have as flowers girls, consider a wrist corsage, Bouquets or Posy’s can always be dropped and damaged even before the ceremony starts.

Button holes. Buttonholes for the Groom and any male attendants-traditionally the Grooms buttonhole should be a different colour from the other attendants.

CorsagesCorsages for the Mothers of both the Bride and Groom, these should be chosen once they have decided on their outfits to ensure the match and compliment.

Thank You Bouquets. Gift bouquets are also often presented during the reception speeches to the Mothers of the Bride and Groom as a thank you.

Church & Reception flowers. Consider also the Church and Reception venue flowers. For the church, the entrance, pew ends, windowsills and the altar area. For the Reception, the entrance, the top table arrangements or flower garlands.

We have decorated the majority of the local church’s and reception venues and can advise you on any specific requirements they may have.

Your Budget. You decide what role you want your flowers to play on your big day and set your budget accordingly.

You may want us to fill the church with an abundance of flowers, or you may prefer just a few simple displays on the pew ends.

Whatever your requirements, Jackie Phillips Flowers talented and experienced florists can give you advise and turn your ideas into reality for your special day.
